Hey guys-
Didn’t have a chance to write yesterday as I was busy as shit! So much invoicing…
So anyway, tonight I’m singing a song at a piano bar in midtown, and I’d appreciate your loving vibes (especially since I have to make a mad dash to the theater right after work!) I haven’t performed in a while, so it’s a nice opportunity to get to do what I really love in front of people… I love being in the spotlight.
Sometimes actors and performers are perceived as being attention whores, hams, and generally self-absorbed. And of course, any of these traits, taken to a negative extreme, can be detrimental to those around them. But I think a little bit of love for the limelight can also be a good thing. I challenge you to find one great teacher or speaker that doesn’t LOVE being up on the stage and speaking to an audience. It’s that passion for communication, for sharing, for learning and performing that gives them the edge they need to be seen and heard by their target audiences. Anyone can get up and talk into a microphone, but it’s the people who are on FIRE who really get noticed, and can therefore help people.
Theater and music are just as capable of teaching as any public speaker, and our most treasured performers are those who crave the chance to share their gifts, and to be enriched by the audiences’ response.
So I challenge you to find your inner attention whore! Not for selfish gain, but to use that attention to BETTER the world and those around you.
LOVE-
Adge
